Deliciously decadent date chocolate truffles

I am writing this from beyond the grave. I am no longer alive but am actually dead. Specifically, I am in Heaven, sat on a fluffy cloud. The sound of harps and angels singing in harmonic and canorous verses can be heard all around. As I write, I am eating a chocolate dessert that only dreams are made from. But this isn’t a dream; these are real. Made from two ingredients, you too can blend your way to truffle dreaminess and be in chocolate heaven just like I am right now. I’ll be back shortly, to make more truffles, and then I’m going back again.

You will need…
๐ŸŒธ 200g dates

๐ŸŒธ 2 tbsp cocoa powder

๐ŸŒธ1 1/2 tbsp water

๐ŸŒธ Any decorations e.g desiccated coconut, cocoa powder, crushed hazelnuts

How to make:
1) After removing the seeds from the dates, put them in a large jug along with the cocoa powder and water. Blend with a hand blender until the mixture is smooth and fudge-like. Mix with a spoon if necessary to make sure everything’s incorporated.


2) Use a spoon to scoop up pieces and then roll them into individual balls.


3) If you choose to decorate, on a piece of kitchen roll, add the coconut, chocolate, etc (separately) and roll the truffles around until covered.

4) Transfer to a plate and proceed to take many many photographs because they look so cute…

This is no joke, these are my new favourite things due to their pure simplicity and the fact they require two – two! – ingredients. Wow. Who would’ve thought. They taste just like a chocolate truffle but without the added sugar and other innutritious ingredients. Wow again; words can’t explain, just drop everything right now and make some now and then you’ll understand.
